Just south of Auxerre, the Morvan is one of the least populated
and most beautiful areas of France. Blessed with the sort
of woods and hills that make for off-road paradise, it is
the perfect location for a long
distance off-road tour. Starting in Vezelay, the first day
takes you south to the town of Chateau-Chinon. After a night
in a hotel you head south and then west to your second night
stop in the small town of Anost, buried deep in the Morvan
countryside. Then on your final day you ride north back
to your starting point in Vezelay.Slightly tougher than
the Normandie, the Morvan allows you to cover long distances
(approx. 180 km per day) almost entirely off-road. To allow
for the possibility of bad weather, or hold ups, each day
features a number of mini loops that can be missed out if
you should fall behind schedule. A unique chance to explore
this little known area, and experience a France few normal
tourists ever see.
